Metal 2 changes each semester, allowing students to express their creativity through different and unique sterling silver projects each time. During every 8-week course, students will create two to three projects in sterling silver, honing skills in forging, fusing, creating hollow forms, and advanced stone setting. Students continue to practice building heavy bezels with hammer and punch, fabricate hollow rings or pendants, and learn flush setting faceted stones.
In addition to the 8-week course, Metal 2 students are offered open studio hours on Sundays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm each week. Open studio hours are non-instructional sessions where students can work on past, current, or independent projects—whether at an open studio bench, a soldering station, using pre-approved tools. Students must register for open studio hours by contacting Dan anytime after theirfirst class.
Prerequisite: JewelryClassDC Metal 1 or comparable experience. Please contact Dan if registering with comparable experience.
